My fuel economy situation
 
so ive read in other posts dont go by the gauge go by the odometer, so how many kms or miles should i get on a full tank, with a b16a hitting vtec now n then? i got some bolt ons short ram axel back exhaust and header, im just curious so i know if somethings up:cool:

If you're hitting vtec all the time, I'd say around 12-14 mpg.

Honda's are built for fuel economy, not speed. That's what they are: 4-banger econo boxes. Vtec is not something that you try to hit every time you get in the car. It's not something you want to use multiple times a day when driving. It's meant to provide just a little more power when you need it in the upper RPMs where a non-vtec usually falls flat on its face.

They are not fast cars. Do not push one over 5K rpms or so all the time if you think it's mad tight to hit vtec. That's a good way to wear out your engine faster. Your intake and header will not really help you as far as MPG or power are concerned. +5 HP is a high estimate of the gain. +1 MPG is probably what you're getting from those bolt-ons.

You want good MPG? Accelerate slowly. Cruise at 65 mph in the right lane. If you are tempted to drop a gear and floor it just to feel that vtec kick, go unplug your vtec solenoid so you aren't tempted to try to go mad fast anymore.

Civics aren't fast. Vtec is overrated.

lol okkkkkk sorrry yeah i know i dont hit it everytime, very little actually, because by time im in 3rd hittin vtec im at 100kmh 40 over the speed limit
