I'm going to take a look at an 01 civic coupe w/an auto tranny tomorrow for my mother. I know it is supposed to have a newer gen motor than my old d16z6 so is there anything unusual that I need to look at for this type of engine? Or trans.....like how are they supposed to shift, do they have a smooth shift or somewhat abrupt....

check for any leaks around the oil pan, radiator, hoses, gaskets, and if its vtec check for leaks around the vtec solenoid... if u find any defects, tell them to fix it so u can buy it. trust me i had A LOT of fixin to do cuz i didn't check right...
