Default 07's V-Tec???

Hey y'all,

Newbie here.Just got my first Civic. It's a '07 EX sedan, black. I am assuming that with the advent of the 140hp motors in 2006,the motors are better?I do not really understand auto mechanics, less so what V-Tec engines do or not. However, they seem to outperform non V-Tecs.Yes?Okay,why don't stock '07 Civs have V-Tec engines? Is the Si the only 2007Civ with a Vtec? Are say the '06,'07140hp motors better than '05 SE Vtecs? If so,why/how?

Thanks

Dude you got some things backwards. The newer civics have k series engines and most of them have vtec now. Actually they have i-vtec which is even better. All EX and SI models have vtec and I also think lx's have vtec now. The reason why the base models don't is because of a couple reasons. For one it uses up more gas, so for people that don't need the extra power and want to use less gas, they can get something affordable.

Do some research on here and you'll find your answers.

Correction, ALL 06+ civic motors utilize vtec motors. However, only the Si rocks the K motor, that is in the civic series.

hmm... I thought all the newer civics had k24's or k20's for EX's and Si's. What motors do the Ex's have?

Okay well I didn't know his primarily because I have seen VTEC in huge block letters on some on linemotor photos where the hood is popped up deliberately showing it.I figured since mine does not show it like this that it was not VTEC

the new civ's have the R18A1 i think the EDM ones have the R16 which has 116 hp as to where the R18A1 has 140 128 @the wheel roughly.and yes they have the i-vtec the only reason why there's no fat sticker on the side is for one its an lx or ex or whatever model and they're supposed to be a little bit more low key than the SI. As many have previously mentioned the only civic rockin the k20 is the SI...
