1998 4 door CEL came on.
I have a 98 civic that's been sitting for 6 months and I've fired it up and started driving it.
It's been running fine but the check engine light came on. I don't have the money to get a scanner But I know how to do the paper clip trick (exept the port is on the passenger side) The light flashes 7 long 2 short Then changes at least 2 other times. How am I suppose to decipher what is wrong with my car :( |
You need to watch closely. It will repeat the two parts of the code 3 times, then send any other codes 3 times each, then repeat all again.
If you have more than one code, make note of them then reset the ECU (disconnect the battery with the engine off), drive until the CEL comes on again, and re-scan. The codes that reoccur first are the ones to investigate first. A lot more detail can be had with an OBDII scan. Except in California where they aren't allowed to, most chain parts stores will scan your car for free. |
