2002 Honda Civic loose emergency Brake

Hi, first time poster,
I have a question regarding the 2002 Honda Civic's emergency brake. A family member has the car and holds on to the e-brake while driving. The e-brake still works great but one thing that concerns me is how loose it has gotten from being tugged on all the time. If it is barely touched, the emergency brake wiggles way too much. Is there a way to make the e-brake tighter to stiffen it up or is there no solution to the problem. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated:)

holds onto the ebrake while driving? You mean pulls up on it while driving? If so, that is bad.

Take off the center console(held by a few screws on each side at the bottom and you'll have access to the handbrake where you can adjust the lines to tighten it up.)

My handbrake has no resistance just sitting there or barely lifting it, but at about a 30-35 degree angle it's as tight as it'll go.

Take the trim plastic off and make sure the handle assembly is still securely bolted to the car. Maybe the bolts have worked loose. There's no way to tighten the pivot other than replacing the assembly.
