Default 5w20 oil to 5w30

I was thinking today, it is a big pain in the *** to find 5w20 oils where i live, would it hurt my car (in anyway shape or form) to switch to 5w30? I have a 05 civic with some minor things done to it....

I have to ask where you live because every place that sells oil has 5W20, even freakin' Wal-Mart has had it for years. Its specified for a lot of Ford cars too. If you're buying oil form a mom and pop shop just ask Mom or Pop to get some 5W20 for you.

To keep the warranty in force, you can use any brand of oil but it has to be the specified viscosity. It has to be labeled to meet the API spec required (like "SG"). You can change the oil yourself but if you don't keep meticulous records (such as receipts for the oil and filters, with the mileage and date noted), it will be very hard to get any warranty claim thru.

Autozone and Walmart here both have at least three brands of full synthetic 5W20 on the shelf. Not sure why it would be different at any of their other stores anywhere else in the USA.
