Ok, popped the valve cover off, and timing belt cover. Looks like a newish-if not new- belt.
Something won't turn. Where should I start?

Tearing it apart and start there? or check make sure belt is right?
If belt isn't right would it cause it not to crank/turn?
If I want to take head off in car- what all do I have to take off?

This coming from a newbie, but did you try to remove the spark plugs and crank it? I know that you said it wasn't hydro locked but it sure sounds like it is. Or something is seized and the problem is far greater.

D@mn. That sucks. Well, it sounds like you have another Civic that can take you places so that is a good thing. I think you have 2 options.

Option A - Its a civic...HUGE after market. Rebuild engine or better yet replace with a DOHC vtec, or even SOHC vtec (sorry guys i am a newb and do not know engine codes yet) OR try to get parts from a junkyard just to make it run.

Option B - Sell it. Since it is a civic witha huge after market i am sure someone would take the body and do option A themselves.

Good luck man.

Silly question but are you sure the starter isnt causing the engine not to turn at all. Squirt a tad of oil inside each cylinder and turn the engine over with a breaker bar, it may just break loose.

That could be a great solution and at this point worth a try.

Found the problem. Broken piston rod. Hole in side of motor. Had to take stuff apart to find it.
So I'm now in the market for a motor. kind of better this way. I'll be able to clean it, and replace the clutch while it is OUT of car....
