96-00 vs. 01-04 civic?

i currently own a 96 green coupe with manual tran and it's getting close to 200000 miles so i'm looking to upgradeto one with lower miles.how does the the 01-04 civic compare to the 96-00 in reliability and fuel economy?

i have an 03 and its given me no problems although there have been a few problems with the auto trans failures. but thats about all i can think of also if you looking to upgrade or modify this car it is the worst performance platform. but if not it is a great car.

Ive got a 96 and as far as mods and maintaince goes theres seems to be more parts availble, parts are much cheaper, and parts are usually easier to install mainly b/c the 96-00 engine bay has tons of room...jmo
