96 Civic second alternator

I have a 96 Civic with a d16 y7 motor. currently I only have the stock alternator which I believe is somewhere between 65 and 75 amps. I am running 3 kicker L7 type r's bridged to 3 ohm's. They each run 600 watts a piece for a total of 1800 watts RMS. All of this is being pushed by a kicker kxa 2400.1 amp. I have a huge problem with my lights dimming. I know I can purchase a high-output alternator to solve my problem that will fit in the factory location for between 450 + 500$.

I have experience in custom fabrication and access to machinery to do the work of making a custom bracket. so I was wondering price wise if it would be cheaper to just add a secondary alternator. I know I can get other higher output alternators for significantly cheaper than one that fits factory.

If I do do a second alternator I can either run it as an independent system or as part of a single electrical system. I don't know anything about the advantages or disadvantages of doing it either way. If I add a second alternator or what the advantages or disadvantages are of having just a single alternator versus dual alternators.

Also if I still with adding a secondary alternator I have no idea what I should purchase and how I would feel about wiring it in.

Any help would be much appreciated
