Default anything work patching small hole on top of fuel tank??

I have a 96 civic sadan, has a small hole on top of tank, and in doing research, the tank for a 96-98 is the most expensive one out there most are 260$ + new ;-( and can't find any used in the area, might be droping tank this weekend to check things out a little better, just wondering, alot of people tell me JB weld might hold but just curious if anybody has used something that might work

How did the hole get there? If it's rusted through, there's not going to be much metal left around it either, basically the tank needs replacing. If it's a drill hole from a stereo installation accident, could possibly plug it with a screw, put epoxy under the head of the screw. Don't just gob epoxy on the surface, without some mechanical structure there it's likely to just all fall off.

Best repair product is PERMATEX gas tank repair. It runs about $6.00 at Advance Auto parts.

I agree with the Duane4238, but how big is the hole and how did it get there. It's not rust is it?

Go to Car-Parts.com it has a huge list of wrecking yards through out the nation. You will find on for the price you want to pay. I use it regularly & have had good results.
