b18c or h22a swap

Other than cost or simplicity, which is the better of the two for a 94 EX coupe swap?

RE: b18c or h22a swap

I asked the same question about my 99 civic...

From what I gathered from other, more experienced members, the B18C is going to be easier to install, but more expensive. The H22 is a cheaper buy, but will cost you more to install, unless you do the swap yourself. (It's bigger than the B18.) There's a website I was looking at, called "import"something, not sure of the rest, that sells both engines. They include transmission, axles, ECU,and motor mounts. There are also some other options like limited slip differential. In the long run it's all preference though.

My decision was to save a little longer and get the b18, because honestly, I would rather do the swap myself, since I'm the learn-by-doing sort of person.

THe b18 will run you more to install and cost, however the h22 is a lil cheaper it is much harder to find mods for that type of engine, and in the long run the b18 I think would have more fun things that you can fo to it. I would diff go for the B18 I no that I would!

well ima have to agree with the b18 but im gettin my 97 lx in like a 3 days and as soon as i get it im throwin an intake and header on there. i would personally turbo the d series, it is just to easy to do swaps these days, turboing the d is more fun and you will be proud of yourself n the end, but like everybody says it is all up to preference.

i have a b18c swapped into my ej8 and it was quite easy to do the swap. u have to make a lot of modifications passanger side in order to fit the h22.
the total cost for the swap was around 4k. but i will go ahead and recommend the gsr i just love that engine! b18 ftw

RE: b18c or h22a swap

The B-series will definelty be an easier swap, and much nicer to work on in the future(for modding, etc.).... with the H22.... the swap gets a little harder... special mount kits will be needed and custom fabrication to the vehicle to accomadate the new shift linkage from the H series...

as far as power goes..... the H22 surpases the B series in tourque, but in my oppinion a 2/3 thousand pound car doesn't need it.... with out traction bars and street drag radials you really would't be taking advantage of the extra power from the H series......
I am a B series fan.
There lighter, will rev higher, soo manygreat parts out there, and reliable.
- Seriously, in that car i'd just get a 2nd gen B16, all the normal boltons, maybe some stage one cams,decent streetclutch,and a chip(vtec@ 4.5K / redline @ 9,000K)
believe me that engine loves 9000k rpm.... and so will you.... (and if you really want to pull on people.... use the ls trany;).....with longer gears and a long high reving powerband your oppenent will be shifting wile your blowing past on up to 9K.... :)
- gotta love that 1.6 liter DOHC vtec
