Default Bad to shift while driving?

I wanted to know if switching to 2nd gear is bad to do while driving on an AUTOMATIC. If you shift to second while your driving you get engine braking. So I wanted to know if thats bad to do without pressing the brake.

Im a noob..i kno lol

I wouldn't think it is doing the transmission any good. I do know that a set of break pads are WAY cheaper than a new transmission.
On occasion it would be ok but I wouldn't do it everyday.
