I pulled out the LS motor because it was shot, so i wont be spending money on repairing it.
I want to know whats the best swap to put in a 95 LS? my budget is $1500.

 

1500? hmm... onlything i can think of is another LS...i would recomend a GSR but you would be spending more then 1500

 

ok lets say i keep the LS, whats the best tranny to put on it? and is it worth building my engine?

 

well first thing is first, what is wrong with your engine? is it a block issue or a head issue? and i woudl say a B16, GSR or Type R tranny as they have shorter gear ratios then the LS. but for 1500 you could buld your motor pretty good

 

there no point on building my engine. it's really beat up, and it has 230,*** miles on it already. It blows white smoke from the exhuast and it sometimes burns oil pretty quick. It knocks and sometimes it doesnt even start up.

I can get a cheap LS but should i keep an LS motor and build it and get a b16 tranny? Would just switching the tranny make any difference?

 

well if your motor is f'ed then i would probably look into getting a new engine, for the money you would spend on building your engine and getting a new B16 or Gsr tranny, then you would probably spend the around the same as if you bought a GSR engine and tranny. just a thought..

 

I can get good deals on motors and trannys so this is what i was gonna do.

Take my engine out and put another LS motor (long block)which i can get for $300 with 80,***miles on it.
Then i was gonna trade my LS tranny for a b16 or GSR tranny.

Does that sound like a good idea?

 

Werd.. sounds like a plan, wont be any power difference, but it will be quicker with the shorter gear ratios

 

even if i get a b16 wouldnt it not be much of a differnce? b16= 160hp, 112tq, b18b= 142hp, 127 tq.
It's only like a 18hp less but the b18b has 15tq more. wouldnt those 2 motors will equal out?

Is the b18b worth keeping, if i get a b16 tranny?
