This is absolute bull, right? I was of the understanding that it is NOT A GOOD THING to mess with the VTEC and when it comes into play. What do you all think?

if you're asking about vtec controllers, plenty of companys make them.

the reason people like vtec controllers is because you can adjust your vtec switchover point to bring on your max horsepower sooner.

apexi may make the most desirable of all vtec controllers, which also controls you're engines air/fuel mixture ratio:

and buddy club is one of the most revered tuner companies in japan. they're suspension parts pwn, so you can be sure they're products ain't crap.

thanks drbyers and heymikey19. I had no idea about buddy club, so thanks for the info on that. I also see what you mean about the apexi one being desireable because it also changes air/fuel ratio. if the switchover point is changed without compensating with a change in air/fuel ratio to match the change, I was of the understanding that that is why it was not good for your engine.

You only need it if your engine has been retuned/upgraded and somehow the VTEC engagement point is incorrect. VTEC should engage at the point where both the low cam and the high cam make exactly the same amount in torque.

the engagement point is also commonly changed when tuning for boost.

Honda already set VTEC at the prime point where the first lobe is getting its maximum usage, and at that point the secondary lobe opens the valves up even more. This utilizes both lobse to their maximum potential.Unless your boosted (in which case, i still dont understand why youd adjust it), i wouldnt mess with it.
