So ok, I have some more idea now. Thanks for all the info. D16Y8 vs D16Z6... the difference is pretty negligible it sounds like, OBD1 vs OBD2 as well. I drove a '95 today that I really liked, mostly because the guy has done a lot of really good body work to it, and the interior is custom and spotless. Very comfy. The engine is pretty much stock, a deep cycle battery and a new muffler but that's it really. Nice sound system, component speakers. CF hood, body kit, nice rims, and he is throwing in a new tramission (not installed) because the old one grinds into 3rd. He wants $3500.

Ooootherwise there's a '94 Integra GS-R for $3500, with a Civic Si head, better headers, full cat-back exhaust, nice intake, forget what brand but it's low to the ground. Some better kind of seats too from a different vehicle, also nice sound system and rims there too. I can't decide... both cars are in great condition, basically identical mileage of 132,000 and 120,000(Integra), the interior of the Civic EX is a bit nicer.

Both guys are friends of mine which is why the prices are like this, they both want to get rid of their cars for something more "professional" and just want them out of their driveways I guess.

That much better, really? What besides the B-series engine is better? Frame, suspension, wiring, what? I mean I know the Integra is a faster car, obviously, but I am curious what else. Will post pics if I can find my batteries for the camera.

rear disc brakes i'm pretty sure, along with the 170(?)hp DOHC VTEC motor.
nicer interior too

also, body kits are ugly, so i would pick the integra over that civic anyday

Well if it's a GSR with an Si head than he is gonna be flowing a little better me thinks.

I would chose the Integra, hands down. But for the same price i would def. go with the Teg. It's got alot of things out of the box that the honda doesn't have such as:

-B series VTEC engine (not insane or anything but it's a better stock motor)
-Rear disc brakes
-Better suspension at all 4 corners (not to mention sway bars front and back)

these are all things you can swap onto the civic but it takes a bit of time and money. might as well start off with the better parts. But both chassis are the exact same, built off the same frame. Interchangeable suspension from every piece.

Go with the GS-R dude, you won't regret it.

All right, I'll need to some thinking, I know the Integra is worth more and has more features, I'd have to redo the interior a bit but I guess it's worth it to start out with a better base, you're right.

when I purchased our 1996 honda civic sedan ex new they had some 1995 civic sedans on the lot and I remember there being significant difference in interior space (bigger) . that is one reason why we went with the 1996 - have to say never regretted it still driving it today with 104,000 miles and still drives like the day we drove it off the lot - simply amazing. I also think they were quieter because they had more sound deadening material. Anyway my two cents worth.

i guess i'm biased as i drive a stripped eg6 wi a beloved b-series under the bonnet but personally in your situation i'd go for the integra.
You'll find that the teg is a much better car all over but it depends what you want from it. What about a poop coupe?

Choosing between the 94 teg or the 95 civic I would go with the teg. When it comes to Civics, I prefer the 6th gens myself, although the 96-98's taillights/radio/dash/hood/bumper/fenders are different then the 99-00 (which I prefer to the 96-98's).
