I'm always in disagreement with Ben, but this time I agree 100%. I have 92 Si and 03 SI, and I can compare the shifters on a daily basis. It takes a few days to get used to it, but you feel uncomfortable coming back to floor shifter after this...
I changed my mind, I hate the shifter on the dash. Its uncomfortable and needs to be placed on the floor.

dont even thinkof trying to do any engine work on the new si cuz there is no room to do anything in the engine bay. half the motor is under the dash in the car

True, it's really tight over there. But, if you are talking about 02-05 Si, the motor is not under the dash, it is on the other side, in the bumper. Bumper removal should give you a plenty of room to work. Did not try this yet, but was thinking about it for some time already.
