Default Civics & High Mileage

I was looking at a 95 Civic EX yesterday for 2000 but it's mileage is roughly 165000. I was wondering if thats worth it and if that's really bad, or fine. How long it might last after I buy it, ect.

wow, 165k....i hope my 00 ex coupe with 79k lasts that long.

depends on how it runs and how it was maintained.

do a carfax on it first.

I bought my car with over 200k. Carfax it or take it to a reputable mechanic and have it checked out

I am kinda of new to the Civic world, but they have a reputation of lasting well into the 200K mile mark...The only thing I have been told, the timing belt needs to be replaced every 80K to 100K miles...Besides that I can't see why it would not live up to it rep, with some good maintenance

98 dx with amlost 160k.....still running fine....burns a little oil here and there, but shes still running strong.....at least i dont have to worry about it not starting like with my grandpas trucks...or he and i's mustang (it sits so the battery dies) just walk out, open the door, turn the key, and go. that car should last you a long time...and you can find a new motor (d16) for like $1k completley rebuilt...even cheaper if you want to piece it together!

*edit* thats 160k..not 16..lol

I'm hoping to be buried with my civic because I'll always be poor (psych/philosophy major) and I'll never be able to buy another car.

j/k. I'm running 135,000 on my civic now, and my old accord is well over 200,000. If the car has been maintained properly, there is no reason why it can't run for 200,000+ miles. Have a mechanic check it out.

I'm only at 25,000 but I was told that if taken care of a Honda will last 200,000+ miles easily.
