Default D15B7 Head question

So I was swapping heads off of my 92' civic dx with a del sol head, and all was going well, but the sensor that screws into the head to the lower left side of the distributor broke off. I was wondering what it was and what it does. I was going to replace it any way but I didn't know if it'd hurt my car to drive without it. I've looked in the chilton book but it didn't say anything about it. Any help would be greatly apreciated. - Nick

I guess it wasn't a valid question like any about a "sqecking sound!!!". Thanks to the 13 that glanced at it. I suppose I'll just go talk to some shop about it. - nick

sometimes it takes a more than a few hours to get an answer.. don't be so impatient.

The singe connetor sensor on the head is the coolant temp sender for the temp guage.

The 2 pin connector next to it is the coolant temp SENSOR, it tells the ECU what the engine temp is.
