D16Y7 Boosted vs. B18C1

This might be a stupid question, but what engine would get more power, aD16Y7 with I/H/E with a surpercharger/turbo or a B18C1 with I/H/E only? Thanks foryour answers.

Can't put a header on a turbo engine. ;)

It depends on the boost and type of turbo you put on the y7. There is no way to really give you an answer to the question without taking into account the size of the turbo and the amount of boost it's running at. Considering the y7 wasn't built for high amounts of boost (7-10 psi on the stock bottom end with excellent tuning is about all you'll get), I doubt it would match a mildly modified c1 on power output.

But a home-built turbo kit would be cheaper in the long run for the y7 with intake/exhaust added to aid in producing extra horses.

I didn't know that about the header haha...but ya the reason I ask is because I'm wondering if putting a bunch of work into the Y7 would be worth it over swapping to a B18C. I mean, I know the B18C is better, but the cost of the swap is pretty pricey.

Theaverage d-serieskit (14b turbo @ 8psi, with a good tune) should be making anywhere from 175-210hp (tons of variables). A b18c with i/h/e MIGHT get up around 185whp, but will still have no torque. I always bring up a local guy's motor when the b18 conversation arises. He had a b18c5 with a mod list that Honda boy's dreams are made of. Putting down 230 whp, and an earth shattering 135ft/lbs of torque. That car, against my y8 @ 8psi and roughly 192 whp, 180ft/lbs of torque, my car would walk all over him.

hp sells cars, tq wins races. Not to mention, boost is way more fun :D

I think I'm going to have to call bs on walking all over a built NA type r.

And if tq wins races then everybody would be driving diesils. Tq gets you off the line faster.

Well, thats your opinion, and thats fine. Obvoiusly I can't run him now because my car is on it's way out of my garage, and no longer boosted. Plus, he sold his motor.

Like I said, he was putting down 230ish whp, and only 135 ft/lbs of torque, it wasn't that fast. IMO, Hondas without F/I are filled with what I like to call "hollow horsepower." You can feel it, it's there, but it just doesn't have the pull

agreed, a boosted d- would beat a I/H/E b18c1, i could keep up with a b18c1 with basic bolt ons with my 8 valve. let alone when i put the b7 16valve on.

What if the Y7 was bored and the displacement got up to around 1900cc? Would that definitely push it over the top of the B18C? Also, I'm wondering what you guys think is a good price for this to be done?
