Don't know if this should belong in the DIY forum...

But, our area got hit with a pretty ugly hail storm a few days back, and I've got about 40 or 45 dimples (some are pretty large) in the hood and on the roof. I've heard that you can apply dry ice to the dimples when the metal is warm, like out in the summer all day. Has anyone tried this, and does it work? I'd like to try and take the majority of them out on my own, or "shrink" them and save some $$$. Any tips or suggestions? TIA. Benny

Dunno if it will work, but you could try this.

EDIT: Here is the thing you were talking about. It is all simple science. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I've seen it done before, it's unbelievable. I've never actually done it myself though.

Try it. I'm planning on doing it myself in the next couple weeks. Good luck.

yeah, I looked it up when someone told me about it and I found that vid, but it's pretty grainy, so I'm a little skeptical. I spose though, it's worth the 5 bucks in dry ice to give it a shot. If I get batteries for my camera, maybe I'll take a short vid clip and post it up. Regardless, I'll post up my results. Thanks guys....

its probablyt fine to try it, but it works much much better, on very large dents, not deep, but covering a large area, i dont think it would work on lil hail stone dings, but i would like to see if it does.
