alright. well you are suggesting is too, build my motor, because i already have the y8 manifold ready to swap, i picked it up last thursday. and if i get the turbo, i will piece it together with what he has, and then buy a y8 head.
does that sound smart?
and i wasnt saying i would get a b16 i was just currious

ok, do i risk blowing my engine?
wow that was probably a stupid question...ok
i dont plan on having the car longer then 2 years.. if i put it on and piece it together correctly, will my engine be done fore in 50,000 miles? i have like 160,000 on it as of today

You always risk blowing your engine.
But if you do the install properly, pick quality parts (for example, a crappy wastegate could cause boost creep or even a bad boost spike), make sure your engine is healthy, pick a realistic power goal for stock internals on your particular engine, and get a good tune, you greatly reduce that risk and will probably be fine.

dude...
we have stickied FAQs on this stuff

To pick a power goal, you have to research to find out how much stock internals will handle. You can easily make 200 WHP safely on a healthy D16Y8 (or other D-series VTEC engine, or mini-me swap D-series). On a non-VTEC I would expect it to handle almost, if not, 200 WHP. The reason for the lower number is because since it has less power before turboing than the D16Y8 does, you have to turn up the boost higher to obtain the same power goal as a D16Y8 would on less boost with the same turbo. This additional pressure puts additional stress on the engine.

eh to convert all you need is a conversion harness and the proper ECU. This is illegal just like everywhere else, but since you live in CA they actually enforce this stuff.
To legally do it you'd have to have CARB approved parts and use a piggyback unit. If you want to do this legally, look into the Edelbrock and GReddy kits. If you can find a shady shop to pass emissions for you every year and you're not worried about CHP pulling you over and making you get the car ref'd and/or giving you citations, use whatever (quality) parts you want.
