Engine "choking"

I drive a 1993 Civic ESi with a stock engine. Lately, I noticed that occasionally in stop-go traffic, my engine seems to choke. It does not die, but its as if something is blocking the smooth flow of something (fuel or air?) into the engine. It gives out a chugging sound and the car obviously shakes.

Whenever I press the clutch or power up, it disappears. It does not occur during highway driving though.

I noticed that this normally occurs during initial acceleration from a crawl in traffic, although at times, it does not appear.

Anybody with the same experience and have solved it? Thanks.

You mean the idle is fluctuating?

I experience the same problem.

Nike H34D, idling is fine. It happens just as I accelerate from a standstill in traffic and especially if it is the "crawling" type traffic wherein you never really stop. It goes something like "clok clok clok".

I also noticed that it happens just as something seems to engage, either the aux fan or the airconditioning compressor under the abovementioned traffic situation.

When stopped, everything is normal.

I'de check MAF, and IAC perhaps need to be cleaned, any CEL on?
