Default Engine Question

I have the D16A6 in there now, does not say anything about vtec, the 16 valve honda motor. Wondering how good is the block is it worth doing anything to or just saving up for a swap ?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the A6 is vtec. If I'm correct, it's more or less the Z6, minus the whole vtec thing.

As far as if it's worth it, what are your goals? If you just want a moderately powerful (200whp) or so street car, it's absolutely a good block. Forged internals and a Y8 head swap, and you have an amazing engine for boost. Now, if you want a 500whp monster, you're going to want a twin cam.

Yes I know it is not the vtec and I was just looking for 200-250 hp. As I was wondering if it would be good to boost it and do things with it since it is not the vtec ?

boosting on stock internals will get you to 200whp on a good tune
if you want more power you will have to build the d16a6

if you change your mind and decide to go NA please do a swap trying to build a NA dseries will just be a waste of your money and time and leave you wanting more power

If the engine is in good condition you can safely make ~225 WHP or a little more on stock internals with a good tune. The key is in the tune.

Do a compression test first to gauge the health of your engine!
