Fix or Sell Dilema
Hello All,
I have a 1998 Honda Civic HX that I purchased 3 weeks ago for $3500, great on gas but the check engine light keeps coming on, code is P1063 (Primary HO2S (No. 1) Circuit Slow Response).
This part is pricey, so I brought it into a local honda dealer to have it checked, and I was told that a service bulletin suggests replacing the ecm which will cost $1000. I don't know if i should keep the car & have it fixed or just sell it.
Looking to get imput from other civic owners to find out what you would do.
Thanks in Advance

RE: Fix or Sell Dilema
you can find the ECM (also called ECU or computer) on ebay for like 100 bucks. Don't let the dealer do it, it's really easy. And also, O2 sensors are not that expensive. If that's what needs to be replaced then replace it. It's easy and not that expensive compared to $1000.

++ do NOT pay that much for the dealership to do it.

and you will need to unscrew a few 10mm bolts and posses the ability to plug in a plastic wire harness : )
