Default Flat spots on tires

I was driving and had to panic stop and locked up the brakes and slid to a complete stop doing 60 mph. afterward the tires were thumping after i started driving again. I ended up scraping down the tread a little and now it makes the car shake and the steering wheel shake.

My biggest question is; Are the tires toast? (yokohama avid h4s around 4000 mi)

Can I do anything about it or do they just have to wear it out?

Look buddy, you don't have to be an A-hole just because your question was not answered. It's technically not our job. I'm sorry your thread got skipped over, sometimes they get skipped over. To answer your question, the tires are just flat spotted, you can either:

a) get new tires
b) get the shaved and trued
c) do a really big burn out
d) let the spot wear down

Where do you get the nerve to be such a dick?

The only person you should be pissed at is yourself for locking up the brakes.

I was long boarding in a parking garage last night and saw this fat burnout in there. There were chunks of tire that where like melted to the ground...it was crazy, the guy must need new tires. anyways your question made me think of this. I would do some fatty burn outs lol

i would say replace the tires, if it is really flat. don't think it would wear down to be circular again.

dito to both either new tires or try the fatty burn out... needless to say next time dont be so stupid when braking that hard..... only do it in emergencies and still laying on the brake pedal sliding tires is not good at all. so next time if you have to slam on the brakes let off the brakes and start pumping them just like if you where sliding on ice.
today i had some fun driving on ice. crappy weather and several people in front of me hit the gas and spun out and then they just held the brakes and spun around even more looking all stupid.....
pumping your brakes is ALOT better than just laying on them!

lesson learned...... drive safer... its also cheaper!
