I want to get a third spare key for my sister in case she needs to drive it. I want to know how much usually the spare key cost and how long does it take to order one from the dealership.

 

A couple dollars from the dealership... takes like 5 minutes or less.

 

or like a dollar if u just take it to sears and get a copy made...

 

^or that, assuming that the key you are making the copy of isn't worn down

 

Also depending on what year civic if its a newer one that needs to be chipped your looking at spending a pretty penny

 

A Honda dealer can make you a new key (regular or valet) using your VIN# for a couple of bucks. I do believe that 2001 and newer Civics have an immobilizer system (anti-theft protection like the Accord and '97-01 Preludes) requiring a 'chipped' key. These keys run ~$35 at the dealer.

 

$35?!?! Are you serious chevy wanted $175 for mine when I had the cobalt WTF!
