Default Good/Cheap/Easy to Mod Project car

Any suggestions on a good project car that is fairly cheap and lots of mods could be added to it easily for a noob?

if you're planning on autocrossing or road racing you can't beat the value of 88-91 civic si. but eg's and ek's have similar potential but look a lot better imo

good luck on finding a cheap 88-91 si, 92-95 civic is easier to find and its obd1 so its alot more user friendly and there is alot of stuff for them compared to the 88-91

very true on price, but fwiw, my point was only that if he plans to mod for autox or road racing, i find that the older civic handles better with the right cheap mods compared to the newer gens, so overall "value" is better imo, though personally i would only ever get an ek hatch
