Good generation Civic for teenager first car?

Hey there guys.

So I am here to learn about used Civics, as I will be finding one soon for my teenage daughter.

I have never owned one, but have settled on the Civic for their reputation.

So far it seems like the 5th and 6th gen cars might be a good choice for parts availability from what I have gathered from some threads. And within those generations, what years are a good choice? Obviously I want something safe. I see the term "GSR" on some classifieds...what does this mean?

My price range will be below $4500.

I really appreciate any advice you guys can give me.

Thanks!

Shoot over some links and we can take a look for you. GSR was a trim level for Acura Integra, most commonly known for the GSR B18c1 motor. This is a popular engine swap in the 5th/6th gen Civics. If this is going to be a first car, I would suggest to look for something as stock as possible.

any generation civic is reliable if maintained properly. like the other person said stay away from anything modified and try to find a stock car which is kinda difficult these days.
