Help!!!
today i was asked by my girlfriends father if i could sea foam his accord because he heard it was a great product. so i did. i was putting in half the bottle thru the brake booster line (car running obviously) when he tells me to put more so i do, after all his car right? lol. well after i was done put in about 3/4 of the bottle thru the brake booster line very slowly, i turned it off and let it sit for 15 minutes. then i start it and give it some gas and blows out a lot of white smoke.then i take it for a test drive and i immediately noticed that their was a poping noise coming from the engine. it sounded like a back fire.. kinda. i kept driving it for about another 1/4 to half mile and it stopped. i kept driving it and it would no longer make that noise no matter what. it would only make the notice upon acceleration from a dead stop or when you stepped on the gas. i was thinking it was prolly just excess sea foam combusting when its not supposed too or something.. hence the back firing noise. Any ideas? the car is a 2009 honda accord with a 2.4l vtec. (i know its an accord not a civic im just trying to find some answers.. hence my name on this lol)

Was the car running properly before?

The smoke is definitely normal, but it's usually recommended to put 1/3rd in the crank case, 1/3rd in the vacuum hose from the brake booster, and 1/3rd in the gas tank.
The popping... I'd have to hear it to have any idea. |
Maybe a valve wasn't sealing because you dislodged some carbon. I wouldn't worry if it went away. If the noise sticks around, then I'd suspect something worse.
