HELP! NY inspection obd2 to obd1, how to pass?
So i recently bought a 97 civic dx hatch with a 99 gsr b18 swap. it is currently running a obd2 to obd1 conver. the kid i bought it from said to get a obd2 ecu from a gsr 5sp and simply plug it in, drive it for a few days and the monitors should be good. i asked if it would kick a cel for any reason and he said no way, the motor was fine before. no lights currently. now i'm hearing all kinds of mixed reviews on the subject. i'm getting a 10 day pass when i register this thing tomorrow and the ecu i ordered should be here a few days from now. please help any solid information on proven ways to pass would be greatly apreciated!!!! F*CK NYS DMV!!!!

If you have the entire system (engine and all emission related parts) matched up complete, from a newer car, it is usually legal. Make sure you have O2 sensors before and after the cat converter, OBDII requires that but OBDI only uses one.

from what the kid said there were no cel's on before the swap or after. there are none on now. he didn't do anything as far as deleting sensors from what i gathered, so everything that was on the 99 gsr motor and trans are there now except for the upgraded stuff. since both the car and the motor are obd2, just running a obd1 ecu, the new obd2 ecu that came from a gsr 96-99 should plug n play? just gotta let the monitors set?

My friend ran into the same problem with his type r super charged and he tryed the obd2 ecu and it would run right at all cause the obd1 was programmed to run that car. if your not running boost i think you should be fine, but if all else fails make friends with some one in pa lol
