An Honest Question: What is the point of modding a Civic?

After doing a lot search here, I seemed to notice that most people here with lots of knowledge about cars, seems to admit that moded v8 and v6 engines can never really be beat by a civic. In the few months of talking to many car owners, I have noticed, that most v8 and v6 owners hate ricers, especially honda civic owners. Now my question is, if we can't really beat these a-holes who run their mouth, then whats really the point of modding a civic to be a performance car?

P.S.
The question is not trying to make fun of anyone, just looking at it from a different perspective.

well, "us" civic owners don't modify our cars to beat v8/v6 platforms in a performance aspect. a civic is just an eco box at a low price that is easily modifiable, which is always a plus for the younger crowd. as to the reason why many v8/v6 car owners hate civics, that we will never know, it's just a childish mishap.

^ couldn't have said it better

also, a lot of us are in it for the pride of building a fast car on a modest budget; anybody can go out and buy a fast car... Talk to an AE86 owner sometime about it; they're masters ofmaking something slow go pretty fast.

^ +1 for hte hobby. Making it your own, sound the wya you want, and while a v8 is really fast, twisties are fun as hell with lowering springs and strut bars :)OR, if your serious enough and have the knowledge/time/money, you actaulyl can beat v6/v8s (swap or rebuild/boost).

i do it cuz i like catching peoples eye when i drive by, and its fun as hell

I was sayin that not anyone can go out and buy a fast car. Many people who buy/drive civics CANT afford fast cars lol. I sure cant afford a vette now, def not.

well i say V6/V8s.... they may be able to beat you from stop light to stop light BUT we can BEAT THEM AT THE PUMP every time[8D]

ive got several V8s and V6s before... still got my 66impala 400ci block powerglide tranny... my old 95 and my new 93 fullsize trucks both V8s... and even my bus big block motor.LOL price to fill the tank up....... OUCH!!!!!!!
which is my main reason for buying a civic! its a preaty cheap car with great milage and reliability...
personaly i could care less about performance in my civic BUT if i can gain alittle power to get outta the way of some big rigs on the interstate... thats just a plus ;)

so MOST will laugh at you for lossing..... BUTTTTT you get to laugh at them at the gas pump when the run over 70bucks for a tank of gas.LOL
ill stick to my 20-30bucks for a complete fill up [8D]

Well said, all! I am digging building my dream car. Just how I want it. It is a slow, expensive hobby, but the payoff is worth it.
