Default How to: Frt bumper removal-Air bag

My car is a 96 civic EX. Can some one explain how to remove the complete front bumper(not just cover)? Will air bag sensor be a problem. How do you dis -arm he air bag? It looks like 4 bolts on each bumper support but the air bag problem worried me so I thought I will ask first. Thanks Toby

as long as the car is turned off the airbag will not deploy. We took aryiman's entire setup off to mount his FMIC and never had an issue with the air bag

Taking the front bumper off will not affect the SRS Airbag system. I have done it 10+ times and nothing has ever happened.

for your information the impact/deacceleration sensor is in the SRS Airbag main module behind the dashboard.

What could you have possibly needed to take your entire bumper off (brackets and everything) that many times for??

i had to replace the winshield washer pump, then a hose was broken, then to remove the headlights to paint them, to replace the plastic cover under the car, to install my HIDs, etc.

It wont be a problem, but there are more screws than just those four on top. Check on this site to see how many screws there are, its on the do it yourself section.

Guys, he's talking about the bumper support, not the bumper cover.

But, like I said, no sensors no wires just some awkward to reach bolts.

bumper support only has 4 12mm bolts attaching it. bumper cover has 10 10mm bolts all around to hold it on. i really cant figure out just whatyou are asking could you be alittle simpler please. to be honest after you take the cover off there really isnt much under there but a reenforcement.
