How much engine oil?
just wondering been doing some searching. For a 1999 Honda Civic how much motor oil is needed for an oil change? I've read 3.5, 4, and 4.5 quarts. which is it? Oh also one more thing. I am using mobil 1 synthetic oil. What is the changing interval. 5,000 miles or 6 months? Last time i changed my oil was august 18th.

3.5 quarts. Buy 4 and you'll have enough. Be sure to prime the new filter with new oil before installing. I like to change oil rather frequently even though it is synthetic. Maybe I'm just too rich and / or bored though.

3.5 qts.
I change every 3500 miles or 3 months. |
^There is no need to change your oil after 3 months if it has less than 3500 miles on it.

would it be ok to add 4 quarts? or is it best to do 3.5 quarts?

question. i just bought some oil filters, drain plug and washers from handa accessories. I got a 14mm oil bolt/plug. is that the right size? for some reason i thought it was bigger? do you happened to remember the bolt size for the 99 civics?

I believe mine is a 17mm head. The thread pitch is M14 x 1.5.
