Thanks for the info. I've really been debating myself on this, but for $5000, how can I go wrong? The car I'm looking has 93K miles, and has already had the timing belt changed. The testimonials here are making me a little more comfortable with the purchase.

id say they hold out very good... my only problem with older ones is rust

my first honda ever was a 86 CRX... other than it having a problem with the carb and needing rebuilt it was a preaty nice car! wish i didnt sell it!!!!!!!!!! i practicaly gave the thing away

ive spent more money on a single sub than i got outta it

i also got a 84crx BUT i bought it for a parts car for my 86. only problem with it was a bad carb again... i bought a rebuilt carb just slaped it in thier and now it runs great! only problem with it is i wouldnt drive it out the yard.LMFAO its EXTREMELY RUSTED AWAY!!!!
i got it sold on ebay BUT seller has paid for it BUT he is starting to **** me off by saying he hasnt gotten my bill of sales which he SAYS he needs to insure it for transporting it.... guys gonna be driving a few states away to get this turd. im just about ready to send him his money back and sell it to someone else!!!!!!! or just keep it and find a BETER body for it that has a blown motor and just swap em....

ive got a 94 civic ex with 89K on it. It has a completely stock motor being boosted @ 8psi, I beat the **** out of it and it starts up everyday no problemo. Hondas keep their value for a reason.

i say they also keep thier value cause look at the MPG
that was my MAJOR factor when i bought my 99civic!!!!!! my fullsize truck only gets 18mpg at its BEST! worst ive goten in my 99 civic is 26mpg due to AC on the whole tank of gas!
my old 86crx got almost 40mpg BUT it has NO extras and no safety to the car.LMFAO

best my 99civic has goten on a road trip was 38 i believe. I LOVE IT!

a car will last as long as you want it to.....
drive her hard... and she will have a hard life!

take it easy on the motor/tranny...
she will take it easy on you!

hell i seen a add for K&N filter about the guy with his chevy truck that went 1mill miles on his original motor....... now he was definatly kind to that motor and did all the regular maintance!

my '95's got 172k miles on it...race it fairly often and drive daily. runs like a champ...most cars will keep running well if regularly maintained and well kept but hondas seem to run just that much longer and stronger...

I'm the original owner of a 93 LX 4 door - I have 239,000 miles on it. For what it's worth Consumer Reports listed the 92-95 Civic as a best buy for a used car many years ago. I'm also in the process of looking for a 96 - 2000 Civic as a secondary economy reliable driver. The 96 - 2000 Civic seem to be a bit tighter in the way they feel driving down the road. Don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of the 92-95 era as well. I actually prefer the looks of the 92 - 95 always have.

Regardless you really can't go wrong with Civics. Probably one of the most reliable cars on the planet.

consumer reports rated the 96-2000 civics as the best used car to buy about 3 years ago when I bought my 98...

knock on wood, i've yet to have any manjor malfunctions or work done that was not scheduled (timing belt done at 115k, regular oil changes & maintenance done, one exhaust pipe replaced due to crack from cold weather
