i dont agree. ive ran plenty of cars out of gas! ive even droped and drained quite a few also.. ive never had much dirt at all in the tanks and never had a clogged fuel filter.... but i do change the filter if the cars got over 100k miles.

but then again i dont buy gas at any cheap @ss gas stations!!!!! that probably has more effect on your gunk issues!

 

I usually put in gas at about 1/6 of a tank. if the gas gauge came on I have gone too long (IMO). I have a 45 litre tank and I usually put about 35 litres in it.

As for you "why did I only put this much in" I can think of two reasons

1) air in your tank, as the gas fill the air slowly empties, if you stood there for 20 minutes and kept trickling it in as well as rocking the car to get the air out you would prob get more

2) According to the official Honda owner's manual for my '97 EX "When the gas gauge has reached "E" signifying an empty tank, there is a ~5 litre reserve."
