Default I just bought a 1999 4dr EX Auto Civic for my wife

When we drove it for the fisrt time at night I noticed that the heater AC controls have no lights, hard to find and adjust in the dark.

Should there be a light on these? The 3 dials for Mode, temp and fan.

TIA

Bob

most likely the bulbs are burnt out, just need to be replaced. A slight pain to replace but mainly time consuming. There are plenty of threads on here about replacing them.

Your Civic service manual at the link in my signature also should help. Enjoy your "new" Civic!

If the info to change the lights are in that manual, I can't find it.

I have had the unit out of the car, but there are no lights on it.

Are they on the inside, seperating the back from the front to get to the lights?

Download the 96-00 Civic manual. Look at pages 20-68 thru 20-70 for instructions on removal of the center panel. After removal, see page 21-46 (diagram below). You should find the bulbs behind the face plate of the heater control panel.

Yes, you do have to take the panel apart after it is out of the car.

Well, I got the bulbs out and tested them and they do not work, so I am replaceing them.

They are the weirdest little bulbs I have ever seen, they have like a blue rubber cover.

Oh well, I will get 2 more and see if that works.

I assume this are honda only parts.
