I was changing the oil today in the subaru and was kinda in a hurry. Any ways i just guess on how much to pour in. I did about the same as on the honda. turns out i have about a half to 3/4 quart too much in there. Is that bad? What should i do?

I thought about that but my drain plug is HUGE! like almost twice the size of the civics it seemed. I suppose if nothing else i will try that. How about drivablility? Is it safe to keep driving or should i do this ASAP?

Well I searched around on some forums and have found that it is normal for subarus to burn a quart of oil every 3k miles. Which is true because a week ago i checked my oil and it wasnt even on the dip stick [&:] YIKES! So i suppose if i can find out if its safe to drive in about 1000 miles or less i will be in the norm range.

if it is normal for your subaru to burn oil, i would wait a couple of days and see what happens. i would see if it actually goes down or what. if that doesnt work then you will have to drain the oil from the oil pan.

If you want to reduce the oil level in a more controlled manner than the drain plug try removing & draining the oil filter.

hey mark,

you should be fine. I slightly overfilled my WRX all the time, just because I was so wary of not having enough oil in there (which can destroy turbo engines).

your oil level should be back to normal in no time.

or you could just crawl underneath the engine, place a bucket there and loosen the oil pan drain plug to just enough where oil starts seeping out. it's pretty messy though...
