Just picked this up its a 1995 4dr auto, the alternator belt i guess snapped, and he couldnt get the new one on. I guess it seemed like the alternator would almost move enough to get it on but he just couldnt get it to go over the pulley. Any tips on what might be the problem?

Loosen the bottom bolt, also loosen the bolt holding the curved top bracket to the engine. Work the alternator back and forth until it is almost touching the engine. If the belt still doesn't fit then, you have the wrong belt.

dito... he probably just loosened the top bolt. and not both... after ya loosen the two you should be able to move the alternator enough to put the belt on....
hardest part for me was finding a decent spot for a crowbar to hold the alternator firm for the right tension!
thats someone you wouldnt want working on a car anyways.LOL
