Just got a 96 hatchback

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I just bought a 1996 hatchback and thought I would look for a forum and this is what I found! It is a DX 5 speed manual with no features except AC. I am looking to get some new taillights as a first upgrade, then I will start to look into performance upgrades. Any suggestions as to where I should start with performance upgrades?

Intake Headers and Exhaust (I/H/E) would be a good place to start...lowering springs should also benear the top of your list also. If you have vtec a vtec controller will give you a little boost also.

I bought a used '96 cx, the only mod as far as I can tell is the 14" alloy wheels. They look cool, how do they affect performance?

I see this is an older thread, but what is a vtec controller and what does it do? Clearly it has something to do with controlling the vtec, but what does it controll?
