Is it just me
 

or is my car like super slow. Whenever i drive 40 MPH i feel like i'm driving 30 MPG. Im driving 60 MPH on the highway i feel like i'm driving 45 MPH or 50 MPH. Is it because i have a 1.7L engine or could it be that my tires have something to do with it affecting my speedometer. I have 195/60/15 and my car oem size is 185/65/15. Could the fact that my tire is different play a role in this?

A 195/60R15 is considered a 'Plus 0 fitment' for a 185/65R15 so the TIRE MAKES NO DIFFERENCE (if the new tire was much taller then OE (ie a 70 or 75 series or a 215 or wider) then it would).
The diameter of the 185/65R15 is 24.5 inches, and revs/mile 824
The diameter of the 195/60R15 is 24.2 inches, and revs/mile 833

I seriously believe that it's all in your head. The car is very quiet, and an AUTO has longer gears then a manual. So naturally it will feel like you are not moving as fast as the speedo says, but you are.

Yeah i figured it was just me, just wanted to make sure.

Would you say i made a good choice in getting 195/60/15 and not oe size 185/65/15. I got new tires last week and i was debating that and just went with 195/60/15 as the tires that were on there also were 195/60/15.

I figured the 195/60/15 would make my car taller than if i had gotten 185/65/15 and from what your saying it's actually makes my car slightly lower. Do i get any benefits from this. I mean i know a lower car means better handling but would i notice a 0.3 difference in handling?


So wait that revs per mile thing would mean that my tires actually make my total cars mileage be lower meaning the car really has a bit more miles then. is that correct? so if my car has 111k then that would mean it really could have something like 115k or so?

i do have 30 days test drive and i can go and get 185/65/15 exchanged for free if it would be a better choice, not to mention i would probably get some of the money back... :D

i think it's in your head and all depends on the car you're driving

if i drive my dad's new truck, it feels like i'm going 10mph slower than i am and i have a tendency to accidentally speed by like 15-20mph in it at all times

It's up to you whether you keep your tires or not but i would go with the 185/65R15...the wider the tire the more drag and less mpg you will get... but its not that much of a difference
