Lets talk swaps for Hobo
Guys, I really need to get realistic on my car. My D16y7 is hemorrhaging oil. Rear main seal is leaking, oil pan gasket is leaking, and its burning oil. I have to drive this car 64 miles round trip every day. I add oil but it just leaks out or burns. So I need to really start thinking about swapping.
I need a swap with good fuel economy. It's gonna stay automatic. But I really don't want to go D series anymore. I finally found a buyer for my unfinished spare y7 from my failed boost project so that's getting out of the way finally. I need suggestions.
No, I'm not swapping in a K series. I'm a broke *** ****. I'd rather do B series if they're good enough on gas, or can be made to sip gas more lightly. I might just drop in a lower mile y8 if I can find one, but I'd rather not go D series. If I'm gonna swap, I might as well make it an upgrade.
So, ideas?

How big is your wallet?
I've been looking for a new engine as well, and as of right now im gonna go for a b18.
But i dont really see a lot of automatic tranny's for sale online as a whole complete swap. Or at least thats what I've noticed.
But im sure there are some out there..
But why stay automatic?
Seriously, manual is so much more fun to drive. even while learning its fun. lol
not trying to make you change your mind about it, just curious on why stay automatic.

A lot of people say that a B16 isint worth it. that z6 are about just as fast as a b16... but idk.

I know you said no Ks, but you can pick up a K20a3 for about the same price as an LS if you look hard enough. Hell, when I was still at Wyotech a student was selling a K20a3, trans, and ECU for like $300 just to get rid of it. The base model rsx came with an auto (sportshift or whatever honda calls it, at that), so it's likely that you'd be able to find one complete with slushbox. The biggest downsides I see are mounts and axles.
If not, LS swap or, if you have the money, H22 swap.
And the B16 is worthless IMO. Yeah, it has peak power. It also has 1ft*lb of torque over its Y8 brother. I have yet to be in a car where peak horsepower was any kind of useful on the street. If I was going to spend $3k+ on a swap, I'd want something with a little grunt down low over the engine it was replacing.

Just for that comment I'm getting an EG and building up the single cam just to show you up
(Oh, and you're revving 600rpm past peak power if you're hitting redline. Z6/Y8 peak is at 6800rpm, redline 7200. B16 is 7600, redline 8200.)

But then again swapping in a H22 is a whole lot more complicated than swapping in a B series engine. isint it? Dont you have to modify the engine mounts to make it clear?
and make way for the cable tranny..
Because IMO that would be a lot more bang for your buck.
2k for a complete change over isint bad...
