need help 2002 ex civic automatic

I haven't been around cars or hung with dudes who know cars for like 5 years and i need some help. Also i've never owned an automatic civic before( big mistake for any1 thinking about it, no power.) which leads me to my question, what can i do to improve some power to it? I know the obvious, intake, header and exhaust but i don't want it to be loud. I don't have a huge budget but i do have some money to throw at it, not looking for a huge project, so turbo is out, and i'm not lookin to race, so i don't want nitrous, i just want to step on the gas and actually have the car go somewhere, low end on an automatic is trash and frustrates me! please please please help! i know i sound like an idiot asking this but i don't know where else to turn! Thanks

why not sell the auto civic and use that money to get a manual. why keep a car that you are not happy with. not much you can do without spending couple thousand on it.

I would agree. You also probably have a D17 engine, and they just aren't fast no matter what you do to it. So both the engine and transmission would need to be swapped out to realize much increase in performance. That is of course doable, but it's money ahead to sell that car to someone who doesn't want high performance and start your project on a different one.
