Need (HELP/ADVICE), looking at buying a 1995 honda civic off Craigslist
Hello, first post and new to the Forums. I'm looking at a 1995 Honda Civic (1.5L I4, Manual Transmission 4 door). Its for $900, the guy said its been sitting for 3-4months but it is a good car, I may look at it tomorrow. I was wondering if it is a OBD1 or OBD2 scanner compatible? I've never purchased a car without scanning the vehicle first. If I can't find a OBD1 scanner in time, how should I inspect the car? I also am learning to drive a stick, I previously did in my dads 05 toyota echo. I currently drive a 98 saturn sc2 automatic trans but I need a 4door car that doesnt burn a crapton of oil. Tell me what you guys think or any helpful hints would be appreciated! I live in Michigan home of rocksalt, so I plan on looking at the underneath frame. The guy doesn't know of the mileage which I thought was weird. Let me know what you think. :D

OBD1. The scanner just tells you about CELs right?
Just go over the car, or have a mechanic look it over. |
The CEL should come on for a bulb test when you turn the key on but don't start. Then it should stay off while driving.
The OBD1 "scan" is just to jumper the test plug with a piece of wire and count the blinks of the CEL. There is also a proprietary interface that no one uses. |
