If it is a stock LX, the converter is built into the manifold. The so-called B pipe bolts on there just before it turns and goes underneath the engine and to the back of the car.

Most aftermarket stuff is for an EX type system with the converter underneath the car, and the B pipe bolts onto the back of the converter just behind the firewall. Swapping to an EX manifold and converter will offer slightly higher performance as well as more options for what will fit.

swapping to an ex exhaust will be a waste of time and money you will gain nothing maybe 4-5 hp if your lucky not even noticeable especially if your car is automatic even a full header back system will not gain you much. the only reason people put exhaust on D17s is to change the sound so in that case you only need an axel back system or just a universal muffler. if you order a bolt on catback for a dx,lx then it will bolt on simple as that.how much money are you willing to spend ?? you can get a really nice axel back for $500+ like Apexi WS2 or a nice sounding muffler for $90 dollars lik vibrant street power.

Like itburns said, to change the sound you could just replace the muffler. That would involve unbolting part #3 (see link below) at its flange near the rear axle and replacing everything from there to the back of the car with a third-party "axle-back" unit.

Or cut the pipe just before your stock muffler and attach a third-party universal muffler. It could be clamped or welded on.

Were the manifold meets the exhaust pipe it curves up to concert to the manifold but the exhaust on andies auto sport for a 01 civic lx are straight pipes that bolt on? I know what your guys are saying and I cut the muffler off already and put a resonating one on but I whant a louder deeper sound thanks for your help

You don't give us much of a description to go by.

On another note, why do all these people order from andys? worst CS I have ever seen. They sell generic crap you can get anywhere
