Default need help choosing code reader

I'm looking for some recommendations on a decent code reader. Are cheap ($30, ebay) ones just as good as more expensive ones or are they just junk waiting to break?

Do you have an autozone store? Because they rent them for free.

I do have an autozone, but I would rather just have my own. Plus, they won't turn out a check engine light until they have proof that work was done on the car.

huh?? Over here, they just give you the little reader, you take it home and bring it back whenever you want too. So, you can reset the ecu yourself.
