step down to a smaller size turbo.

kevin_taccone@yahoo.com 08-17-2010 10:37 PM

if i go down in size will i lose top end and i dont really want to go any lower in my boost can i still keep 15 to 18lbs without over heating it ????

what kind of gas are you running?

That's a huge turbo for that tiny Honda engine. there are very few ways to get it to spool faster.

Either accept the lag for what it is, step down to a smaller turbo, or spend a lot of money and get a variable geometry turbo. Those are pretty much your only options; lag is a trade-off for having a larger turbo.

Most smaller turbos (Like Mitsubishi's 14B) are efficient up until around 25psi; that's when they start spinning too fast for their own good. Keep in mind you'll be making less power at the same amount of boost compared to a larger snail.
