New 2009 LX Sedan 4 door mileage and negotiating deal
Well, I've had the 2009, LX 4 door in Itianium, see pics in photo album section.
I've got as high as 39 mpb, and as low as 35.5, third tank was about 37, so I think my overall average so far is 37.5mpg. I was hoping for a more solid 40mpg, but maybe that will come as it gets broken in??
I was somewhat surprised on the deal I got.
I had 5 months left on a Honda Lease on a 2006 Accord LX-SP 4 door.
And, the company I work for gets a deal of 3% over invoice on Hondas, but its a different dealership than my Lease was through.
We went to my dealer on that particular day, only to check out the new color Itanium Civic, they'd just gotten in 2 days earlier.
Of course as soon as we get out of our car, the sales lady was on us. I told her my situation w/5 months left on lease, but also told her I was way below mileage for the lease, and the car didn't have a scratch on it. She says they can't forgive lease payments like GM does, but that they might be able to buy it outright for enough to cover the remaining lease.
Well, they still wanted about 2 months worth of lease payments and only came $400 off the sticker. 3% over invoice would be closer to $800 off sticker. So, I said, all I have to do is wait 5 months and the lease goes away, and the other dealer has written policy to sell to us at $800 off(the 3% over Invoice).
To my surprise, they met my initial offer, they wiped out all payments off the lease, basically gave me full lease payoff, and came $800 off the invoice$18,825 down to $18,025.
I got screwed a little on their in dealership financing, I could have save about $150 - $200 with my own financing, but close enough to close the deal.
This all really surprised me for 2 reasons,
1) I would think high mileage civics, they wouldn't need to deal at all, they should be able to sell them for full sticker. KBB shows typical selling price as actually higher than sticker price.
2) They still had half dozen to ten 2008 civics sitting on the lot. I didn't expect them to deal on a 2009 that literally was on the lot for 2 days, when the still had 2008 inventory.
The only thing I can figure is, this was at the end of the month(of Sept) and they must of been having a pretty lousy month to make me that kind of deal.
Sorry, this is a little long, hope someone finds it useful....
