"new" car... 05 si

2 Attachment(s)
so I sold my 98 ex coupe and got an '05 si...

I've had it for 2 weeks now and absolutely love it... I wouldn't consider it a fast car, but its pretty quick and has beautiful torque (in comparison to most civics)

I put a AEM cai on it... ordered HID headlights (old ones pretty cloudy, I tried to fix one and pretty much destroyed it... don't ask... i've done the same thing on 3 other cars and it worked on those... oh well)

i'll get some OZ Crono wheels (staying w/ 16"... just want lighter wheels) sometime in the next month or two... mostly broke right now from buying the car

just thought I'd share and introduce my car... my wife and I call it Bean (cause it looks like a jelly bean... or mini-minivan... or an egg)

I'd love to find some way to safely shave some weight from the car, preferably near the front of the car...any ideas? I figure headers will save a few pounds... but only a few..

this is my 4th civic:
98 ex coupe.. best car in the world for aftermarket options..
96 del sol si... love of my life.. then the neighbor's cat peed in it...
02 civic ex... some cars are just slow

new wheels and headlights

got new OZ Crono HT wheels today... I like them.. also put in some ebay projector HID headlights.. nervous about ebay lights, but there aren't too many options for 05 si headlights.

installing the lights was more of a pain than I expected. you really do have to completely remove the front bumper.

I had not weighed my si wheels before and was hoping to save a good chunk of weight... i think it'll be about 3-4 lbs per wheel... better than nothing.

Also, one thing I was a bit confused by, TireRack (where I bought the wheels) sends centering rings w/ the wheels.. I have used them before and they fit fine (on previous del sol) but on the 05 si the centering rings prevented the wheels from making contact w/ the hubs... anyone know anything about that? I didn't use them.

And now I need to adjust my headlights as the first person i drive towards at night is probably going to crash into me cause my low beams are WAY too high... we'll get there.

Don't be nervous about the headlight housings, just the bulbs. If those are HID then they'll probably burn out quickly. Replace with some nice halogen bulbs or some better HIDs. You can get Nokya bulbs in 5000k color and they look pretty good for halogen bulbs, and it's all plug n' play. I'm not too fond of the HIDs anymore due to all the extra clutter in the engine bay.

anyone have any experiences w/ tirerack in which the centering rings they sent prevented the wheel from actually coming in contact w/ the hub?
once again, I just popped the centering rings out.. I have installed wheels w/ centering rings installed and they fit fine and I have installed wheels w/out any centering rings... and they also fit fine..
