The new CTR

2006 Civic Type-r

Sick, but why just the Si motor?

ef4life 03-31-2006 01:09 PM

RE: The new CTR

it is cool, but the type r sticker on the side is WAY too big. and it needs to lose the mid-wing

Pete 03-31-2006 01:12 PM

RE: The new CTR

Honestly I dont like it all that much.

RE: The new CTR

bah, concepts like this are always over the top to grab your attention. I could dig it if it were rockin' a lower key look, and I could build it nice and clean.

...and what, what gives with the Si motor?

RE: The new CTR

Honda does not make a higher output 4 cyl engine than the K20A/A2/Z3. We will never see this car here in America, Honda likes not giving us anything worth a crap.

F20/22C? ;)

Sorry I should have said FWD 4 cyl

Kedawei 03-31-2006 03:27 PM

RE: The new CTR

I like it. Hopefully they'll tweak the DBW system for it a bit.

RE: The new CTR

I posted the pic's of this car ages ago! Yes its same power as before but I heard its a re-worked K therefore will have diff engine code.
The word on the street is a more powerful TYPE-RR, yes thats RR, early next year but yet to be confirmed.

I remember whe you post those pics. I like it then and I still like it. Its somthing different.

I don't like the looks of it... there's a photochop I did floating around here somewhere. (it's white) :)

RE: The new CTR

if they cut like 2-3 inches out of the middle of the car and dropped it down and rewelded it and repainted it, with some smaller rims and drop the wing it would look really good.

ahh what about the K24 that is in the TSX?? it has a higher output than the K20

Marty 04-01-2006 02:22 PM

RE: The new CTR

No it dont.

K24 = 200hp 180tq

K20 = 220hp 150tq

Fiirkan 04-01-2006 02:57 PM

RE: The new CTR

but if the K20 has a higher output than the K24, why are people swapping the K24 into the new SI's

baker 04-01-2006 04:27 PM

RE: The new CTR

it's kinda the new CRVTec, they're putting k20a2 heads on k24 blocks.

Kappa22 04-01-2006 09:59 PM

RE: The new CTR

People are swapping the TSX engines because the higher displacement/lower CR is pretty ideal for forced induction. That's what they HASPORT Civic SI kit is based off of. They bought a trainload of TSX's that flipped in transit and ripped the engines out to swap into SIs.

And the TSX already has VTEC, so swapping a K20 head isn't really the same as an LS/VTEC... more like a mini-me.

Marty 04-01-2006 10:16 PM

RE: The new CTR

No it's more like putting a better flowing B16A head on a B18C1 block

Kedawei 04-01-2006 10:55 PM

RE: The new CTR

Newer accords and CRVs have K24s. People are putting K20 heads on those. Although I hear those set ups aren't very reliable. The TSX engine is expensive, and has a pesky drive by wire system.

Marty 04-01-2006 11:49 PM

RE: The new CTR

The K24 is not expensive and DBW is easily by-passed. K24 long blocks go for around $1300 to $1500

Can a RSX type-s or civic si intake manifold and throttle body mount to a TSX head no prob? If so, I assume you'd have to change the ECU also to by-pass the DBW.

Also, is the TSX long block not more expensive? I've heard it has stronger internals.

Marty 04-02-2006 01:13 AM

RE: The new CTR

The ecu needs to be changed anyway because the fuel maps in the K20's ecu's are alot more agressive. If anyone does this hybrid setup I suggest a Hondata K-Pro ecu. Also they are that cheap but there is alot of money going into the swap than just the long block

RE: The new CTR

TSX engines are still pretty damn hard to find, and will definitely cost you. The Accord and CRV engines are different beasts, and cost a lot less.

RE: The new CTR

why is this CTR built in the UK and not produced in japan? also, has anyone seen an accord type R? i was looking through hondas on hondashowoff.com and someone in the UK has one. i've never heard of it existing besides the accord euro R

uk civhead 04-04-2006 03:37 PM

RE: The new CTR

The CTR is built in both the UK and Japan, but they both differ from each other. We have the older model Accord which is a 220bhp type-r but there isnt a type-r in the newer shape that im aware of.

So in the U.K. it sells for $18,000 (UK L)

In U.S. dollars, that's $31,458.60

Nice looking car--wish they'd bring it over to the good old US of A!
