Normal MPG for a 99-00 Si and Ex also
I want to know also on the EX what is your MPG. I know it's a totally different engine compare to the Si.
Anybody also with a B16 swap post your results!!!! Si only uses Premium fuel as everybody knows I need some opinions from other Si (99-00) Owners on MPG. on a full tank. For the 1st time i kept track on mine and I want to know if it sounds right???? I only drove on the highway for 125 Miles and rest on city surface, 145 miles on city. Yes I know on the city I will get less mileage. Total mileage 270 miles on a full tank an average of 24.5 miles per Gallon. Does this sound right for an Si. Keep on mind it was more on City surface than Highway What MPG would an Si get on Highway surface ( keeping city at a minimum) Thanks you guys!!!!!! |

fuel enconomy . gov shows a 99 si getting 22 city 29 highway, edit thats showing the 2008 estimates the old estimates are 26 city 31 highway. the epa changed the old estimates to the new ones cause the old ones weren't real world no a/c on 1 person in the car and driving like a granny, the new ones are real world

RE: Normal MPG for a 99-00 Si and Ex also
i just checked on my 1999 civic ex yesterday and I got about 22mpg, I mostly drive in a city setting and just learned how to drive a stick so that might be why its kinda low, but im not sure.

RE: Normal MPG for a 99-00 Si and Ex also
I drive a 00 ex and I dont know the MPG but I usually drive about 240-270 miles before fueling up and there's at least a gallon left, but the needle fluctuates too much when it gets that low so when I accelerate it looks like I'm on E, but when I'm cruising it goes up above E.
I drive probably 1/3 city, 2/3 highway, that's for work. |
RE: Normal MPG for a 99-00 Si and Ex also
checking my mpg on my 99 si. and i made it to 23 mpg (lots of highway maybe 1/4 city)

What on earth
I own a 2000 civic EX no swap It's rated for 35 originally that site fuel economy.gov said 32 JUST the other day i hit 41 mpg Right now I'm at 210 miles and the needle is exactly on a half tank I drive backroads mostly, like 90% of my driving, and definitely push the gas once in a while what gas are you guys using? |
RE: Normal MPG for a 99-00 Si and Ex also
My 99 HX MT gets me 280 to 300 miles at the half tank mark! That's at 90% hwy driving at 65 mph No A/C.
I usually get 42.5 mpg tanks... |
RE: Normal MPG for a 99-00 Si and Ex also

All this is anecdotal evidence. Let's see some logfiles here guys.............
One tank does not an average make... |
RE: Normal MPG for a 99-00 Si and Ex also
I get about the same but its a 99 prelude.Almost the same year, both dohc vtec engines that take premium. Probably get a little less mpg then you though. Highest was 25 but during winter it was like 20. Mostly city driving with some highway but highway going 70-75 mph rpm hovers around 3500-4000. Pretty high for just crusing.

My 2000 Prelude SH 5spd. gets about 28MPG hwy and 23MPG city, 280-350mi per tankwith Shell or Amoco Ultimate 93octane
My 2000 Civic EX AT gets 31-34MPG hwy and 26-28MPG city, 320-380mi per tank withShell or Amoco 87octane |
With my 99 si, i have gotten unto 320 miles to a tank. Then again, I am unsure if my low fuel light works, so I may be pushing the limits a little.
|
The Si will get poorer gas mileage because it's got more horsepower and people tend to over-rev their engines in these cars. The type of tires you have on your car will affect gas mileage too, esp. if they are the extra "sticky" ones and how much roll-resistance they have. Tire pressure will also affect gas mileage too.
Having said that, I currently own a 97 Civic Ex Coupe that gets about 36 mpg, with 95% of those miles on the highway, riding on Michelin Pilot Exalto (traction A rated) tires. I had a 94 Civic Ex Coupe prior to this which only got 26 mpg. |

Highway= 125 miles City= 145 miles 270 total about 24.5 mpg I guess it's good That's crap, I have a B16B Civic Type R swap in my 2000 Civic Si, the CTR transmission has lower gear ratios than the stock B16A transmission so my car is at a steady 4,000RPM at 70MPH and I still manage to get 32MPG mixed driving. I've gotten over 350 miles per tank with the car's 12.5 gallon fuel tank. |
a few years ago on in a stick 2000 civic ex(D16Y8) I was getting around 33mpg with about 70% HWY driving.
with a turbo I'm getting 30mpg in the same conditions. And obviously it sees boost every day. |
I get 28-33mpg depending on how I drive. The best I ever got was 37.5 on the highway and driving like a grandma.

My 99 Si
I know the gas cap says to use premium fuel only, but I almost always fill up with standard 87 unleaded. My average miles to a tank with all highway miles, which has been tested quite a few times, is about 300-320 to a tank. With a good mix of highway and city driving, I almost always get 270 miles...

as does my Si as 70 mph
